The Centre for Moral and Political Philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites applications for the Centre’s annual summer PhD workshop. This year’s topic is “The Value of Human Life”, and it is coordinated by Anastasia Berg.
We will invite up to 6 PhD students to spend about 6 weeks, from May 21st-June 30th 2023, as fellows with the Centre to explore the topic together, work on their own research and exchange ideas with each other and members of the CMPP. Fellows will attend distinguished guest lecturer Sam Scheffler’s condensed graduate seminar from June 11th. Fellows will be expected to attend the Centre’s annual conference (on the same topic) to be held on June 28-30. Confirmed participants include Michael Thompson (Pittsburgh University), Johann Frick (UC Berkeley), Oded Na’aman (Hebrew U), Jennifer Frey (University of South Carolina), Moshe Halbertal (Hebrew U), Berislav Marušić (University of Edinburgh), Rivka Weinberg (Scripps College), and Uri Eran (Hebrew U).
The Centre will pay for the trip to Jerusalem, provide accommodation near the university, and pay a stipend of approximately $3000 (depending on current exchange rates) for the six week period. Successful applicants will be outstanding PhD students with interests in the topic of the conference and who are in the dissertation stage of their graduate studies.
