Our activities each year revolve around a specific theme or designated topic. This may be a very general theme such as normative ethics, meta-ethics or political philosophy; or a more specialized sub-field such as rationality/decision theory and ethics, evolutionary theory and ethics, ethics and institutional design, and so on. In past years the themes were Well-being (2015), The Value of Equality (2016), and Biology and Ethics (2017). The theme for the current year is Ethics and Uncertainty.

The core component of the annual project is the six-week international graduate research summer workshop. Six students in the final stages of their doctoral research are selected from the best applicants from Israel and abroad to participate in this intensive workshop. Participants take part and lead sessions in a reading group, a presentation and discussion of their own work, a crash-course, and an international conference, all related to the annual theme.

One annual post-doctoral fellowship is offered each year on a research program broadly related to the theme of the annual project. Post-doc fellows collaborate with the annual project directors in their research. They also assist in coordinating the center's activities including the international graduate research summer workshop.  They may offer a course for advanced undergraduate students on the annual theme.

A crash course by a distinguished visiting fellow for advanced undergraduate, and graduate students is offered in the summer. The course is specifically aimed at graduate students participating in the research workshop – but is open to all graduate students at the philosophy and other relevant departments at the Hebrew University as well as other Israeli Universities. Past crash courses include Wayne Sumner (on wellbeing), Larry Temkin (on Equality), and Walter Sinnott-Armstrong (on Does Science Undermine Free Will and Moral Responsibility?)

Finally, an international conference on the annual theme takes place in the summer. Speakers at the conference include some leading international scholars, Philosophy faculty from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem as well as from other universities in Israel, and participants of the graduate research workshop.
